First Fall Race at Velocity BMX
Written by Keith Tharp
Well officially it wasn’t fall this past weekend but it sure did feel like it. Cool temps and brisk breezes gave a feeling of fall to Saturdays Race. Another great turn out this weekend and Velocity’s momentum is growing. Also a huge thank you to Jordan, who offered us her spectacular vocals for the National Anthem to kick off this weekends racing. Velocity BMX is part of NE Velodrome and Cycle park located on Grenier field Road in Londonderry, NH.
The great racing started with Moto 1, Haley, Rosalie, and Elisabeth got the fans excited with quite a bit of back and forth action.
Moto 2 has an exciting line-up in a mixed class from 7 Novice to 35-40 Expert. Richard Bell enjoying the comfortable temperatures shows up 1st for 4, and Jonathan “the Jet” Dufresne shows why it’s important to stay on the crank finishing 2nd in the 2nd and 3rd motos. Robert Nieves with a couple 2nd’s, Brad Sidilau completes his return to racing with a great showing, and Vance Spina hangs tight with the pack racing hard.
Moto 3 had five cruisers loaded in the gate in a mixed class of 35-49. Local legend Jim Paiva takes all the skinny digits after pulling away from an aggressive attack by Kevin Hughes who made a great showing at his return to racing this weekend. Jay Spina starting to settle in here at Velocity grabs a 2 in the main. Glenn Batten and Andrew Graham also fill the moto keeping the action fast.
Moto 4 Nick Peno and Brandon Radcliff tear around Velocity BMX for four fast motos.
Moto 5 the other Paiva, Josh has a great day of 1’s with Chase Hughes close on his back.
Moto 6, three 10 & 11 Rookies stacked up and racing fast. Michael Tharp crosses the stripe first for four with Christopher Palmer and Jared Sergi on his heels.
Moto 7, 8 Year old rookies getting the crowd excited at Velocity BMX, Bradley Bursey edges out Damien Barahona in four fast paced sprints.
Moto 8, 7 year old rookies warm up the day with tons of hard pedaling. Seth Thomassen holds off the charging Aeden Sidilau to finish first on the day.
Moto 9 finishes the day with a combined class of 6 & under Rookies. Christopher Batten finishes just ahead of some innovative moves from Avery Sidilau to round out a full day of great racing at Velocity BMX.
