Mack’s U-Pick 1 open

The apples ready in Londonderry right now are Jersey Mac and Paulared, you can find them as U-Pick at the end of the dirt road just past the barn as you come from the south on Mammoth just past the farmstand. U-Pick 1 is normally located up on the hill overlooking the Adams Pond watershed.

For these early apples it has been moved to the roadway leading to Moose Hill School, another great viewshed, you can see the relocated Parmenter Barn over the orchard as you pick these early tart variety’s.

If you would rather not to follow the dirt road, just head for Moose Hill School,  right near the entrance off the driveway you will find Londonderry’s first U-Pick apples of the 2008 season. If you do use the dirt road, drive slow, the dust you kick up just makes you look silly to the locals.  Besides if Mike Cross is pulling pork near the office at the Moose Hill Farm stand he might come on over to see what you are up to.

We know sometimes our country directions can lead you astray, so please use this Google Map and “get directions” Londonderry is closer to home than you think!

If you are looking for the other U-Pick locations for Mack’s Apples you can find that map in our Agrativities Section

About the author

Relocating to Londonderry in 1982 Steve Young was looking to find a community that was close to the high technology beltway in Massachusetts. It also needed to have farms and orchards like the one he lived on in Upstate New York near Lake Ontario. Serving on a variety of Local Boards and Commissions he understands the unique nature of Londonderry. Surrounded by a transportation infrastructure the core of Londonderry are farms and recreation.
