Old Home Day in Full Swing with Senior Night First

Aug 16, 2011 No Comments by

With five days packed full of fun in Londonderry, the annual Old Home Day celebration is something many locals look forward to. The 112-year-old tradition begins again this week, with the first event to be held Wednesday evening, August 17, 2011. The night starts with the Senior Barbecue, held at the Lion’s Hall on Mammoth Road. All Londonderry Seniors are invited to attend the barbecue, which will begin at 5:00 PM. Laughter, good food and lots of fun are a guarantee!

Following the barbecue, the Windham Swing Band will once again perform on the bandstand on the Town Common. This 20-piece band played for the seniors last year and have agreed to return. The band will begin their performance at 6:30 PM and will end at 8:30 PM.

Both events are free, however tickets are required to participate in the barbecue. In order to receive a ticket, please contact Carole at 432-8810. Space is limited to only 175 seniors for the cook-out portion of the evening. In the event of rain, both the barbecue and concert will be held in the Londonderry High School Cafeteria.

About the author

Jacklynn has been a resident in Londonderry since the age of 5. She grew up in a quiet neighborhood and went through the great school system. She has fond memories of bike riding through town in the spring and summer, sledding in the winter, and apple and pumpkin picking in the fall. She now has children of her own and looks forward to raising them in the same town she enjoyed so much as a youth.
