Litchfield’s Emilia DiCola will host her debut concert on September 25 in Manchester. The soprano will perform some of her favorite pieces accompanied by piano, from composers like Mozart, Puccini, and Ricky Ian Gordon. Spectators will also hear new songs by Matteo Neri, a young composer who has written songs just for Emilia.

Her powerful voice is also uniquely rich and luscious and has enabled her to sing in a variety of settings. She has sung in the chorus of Granite State Opera, and most recently sang the role of Noemie in Massenet’s Cendrillon with DelGiudice Vocal Arts Academy. She attended Manhattan School of Music where she covered scenes from at Mexxo-Soprano Mignon Dunn’s production of A Taste of Operetta, which featured scenes from popular operettas.

Emilia was a featured soloist at the 2010 Great Music in a Great Space. There sang the Lakme Flower Duet with Anna Maria Dwyer. Emilia currently sings with the Tanglewood Festival Chorus as well as New Hampshire Community Choir. She is also a proud student of Andrea DelGiudice.

Joining Emilia at the concert will be Elaine Smith Purcell, a pianist from the Boston area. Elaine is a vocal coach, collaborative pianist, diction specialist and conductor. She studied vocal coaching and accompanying with Warren Jones at The Manhattan School of Music, where she later joined the coaching staff. Elaine is also an alumna of the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara. The New York Post reviewed her works as “lusty and well-disciplined.”

Don’t miss the concert, this Sunday, September 25, 2011 at 4 PM! The performance will be held at The Great Hall in the Grace Episcopal Church at 106 Lowell Street in Manchester, NH. Admission is free!

Elaine has collaborated on rare Spanish zarzuela gems with New York’s Alta Clásica and the University of New Hampshire as well as productions with The Bronx Opera Company, Des Moines Metro Opera Company, Aspen Opera Theatre Center and New England Conservatory. She specializes in lyric diction of the English language and has taught American and British diction at the Julliard School and Manhattan School of Music.

Matteo Neri is a composer and pianist from Princeton, New Jersey. He is currently studying at Westminster Choir College pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Composition. Matteo has a particular interest in vocal music because he has a strong background in singing, but also writes chamber and orchestral music. He is very influenced by post-minimalist idioms, as well as rock and folk music. He was the recipient of this year’s Westminster Choir College Scholarship Award.

The concert is being presented by Music Arts Alive, a Londonderry-based performing arts company. Anna Marie Dwyer, founder of the company and producer of the concert, has formed and directs New Hampshire Community Choir. This choir is a group of musicians dedicated to performing in quality concerts. The musicians commit to working hard while maintaining a good attitude and willingness to grow. Music Arts Alive supports musicians at all levels, creating an atmosphere of mentorship. For more information, visit them online.
