Londonderry to Host Champion Baseball Tournament

The Londonderry Redwings 10U baseball team, sponsored by the Londonderry Athletic Field Association (LAFA), has big expectations for post-season play after posting a record of 4-2, positioning them as the number 1 seed in the tournament.  The Redwings play in the New England Amateur Athletic Union (NEAAU) Fall Ball League and Spring League.Londonderry earned the number one seed by defeating the Hit Quarter Bombers 9U team 6-2, the Hit Quarter Bombers 10U team 13-1, (both teams are from Paxton, MA) and the Big Show Blast of Hudson, MA 15-9 and 20-5.

Playing for the Redwings from Londonderry are:  Cooper Bartlett, Alex Cafaro, Ben Doris, Tyler Kayo, Ryan Lowe, Zack Luongo, Luke Marsh, and Jacob Slide. Other members of the team are: Bobby Doherty, Connor Hujsak, Conor O’Connell, Will Soucy, and Derek Steckowych, all of Goffstown, NH.  Coaching the team are Gerry Kayo (Head Coach), Jason Doris, and Jim Hujsak.

This year’s championship tournament will be hosted by Londonderry this Saturday, October 15, 2011, at the LAFA Complex.  Semi-final games will begin at 10:00 AM with the championship and consolation games beginning at 1:00 PM.

After Saturday’s championship series, the 10U Redwings will take a break before beginning winter training from January to March and the NEAAU Spring Season from April through June.  LAFA also sponsors teams in the 12U, 13U, and 14U divisions.

Jacklynn has been a resident in Londonderry since the age of 5. She grew up in a quiet neighborhood and went through the great school system. She has fond memories of bike riding through town in the spring and summer, sledding in the winter, and apple and pumpkin picking in the fall.
