Over 600 participants have already registered for the Greater Derry Track Club Turkey Trot 5k Road Race. The race, to be held on Thanksgiving Day, begins at 9 AM at Gallien’s Town Beach on Beaver Lake in Derry. This year will mark the 38th Thanksgiving Day race.

Last year, over 1,500 runners and walkers from 25 states participated, making it the largest Turkey Trot in New Hampshire thus far and one of the largest races in New England. This year’s race is shaping up to be another great race. New sponsors and as huge post-race raffle are sure to make this year special.

The Run for the Apples is one of the five events hosted by the Greater Derry Track Club.

Immediately following the race, at 9:30 AM, awards will be presented to the top three overall male and female finishers. The first male and female runners across the line from Derry and Londonderry will also receive awards.

Online registration is open now for all ages. Adults 17 and older who register online pay $15 to enter the race, and $20 the day of the race. Kids 16 and under who register online will be free while supplies last, thanks to MVP Healthcare, or $10 on the day of the race. Online registration closes Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at noon. No paper registrations will be accepted for preregistration.

If weather looks threatening on the morning of the race, call 603-432-6409 for a recorded message or check the Greater Derry Track Club website. Also, check their website for more information regarding the race.
