St. Jude Blood Drive and Bone Marrow Typing

Nov 18, 2011 No Comments by

The Community Service Committee of Saint Jude Parish is hosting its annual blood drive this week. Partnered with the American Red Cross, the parish will hold its Fall Blood Drive on Friday, November 18 from 1 PM until 7 PM at the Parish Hall on Mammoth Road.

As usual, the parish will have a variety of homemade snacks, made by the parishioners, as well as the best Chili and Clam Chowda this side of the Mississippi River!

A Bone Marrow Typing Drive is usually hosted during the winter drive; however the Parish was approached by a local family needing to find a match for a Londonderry resident. Gerry Shuck is in need of a Bone Marrow transplant to cure his aggressive form of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. While the Parish has conducted many drives in the past, this one is especially special to help a fellow resident. The typing takes only a few minutes and is no cost (insurance covers cost) for the typing.

Walk-in are welcome, or make an appointment to fit your schedule! Call the American Red Cross at 1-800-GIVE-BLOOD to schedule an appointment. For more information or to volunteer at the drive, call 603-867-7472 or email vincurro(at)

About the author

Jacklynn has been a resident in Londonderry since the age of 5. She grew up in a quiet neighborhood and went through the great school system. She has fond memories of bike riding through town in the spring and summer, sledding in the winter, and apple and pumpkin picking in the fall. She now has children of her own and looks forward to raising them in the same town she enjoyed so much as a youth.
