Runners of all ages and skill levels will take their marks for the annual point-to-point mile long race, the Millennium Mile, this Sunday, January 1, 2012 at 2 PM. The road race will take runners downhill, starting at the Londonderry High School on Mammoth Road and ending by St. Peter’s Episcopal Church near Peabody Row.

For the past twelve years, the Millennium Mile has attracted hundreds of runners. Competitors have ranged in ages from 2 to 82 and have been Olympians, minute-milers, first time runners and walkers.

Registration will take place from 11 AM until 1:45 PM on Sunday at the High School. Online registration is open until December 31, 2011. When registering online, please be sure to indicate the appropriate school affiliation. Cost for online registration is $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. Registering at the High School on Sunday will cost runners $20 for adults and $10 for children. The first 500 people to register will receive an official Millennium Mile Running Hat.

Be sure to visit the Millennium Mile website for more information or to register online.

About the author

Jacklynn has been a resident in Londonderry since the age of 5. She grew up in a quiet neighborhood and went through the great school system. She has fond memories of bike riding through town in the spring and summer, sledding in the winter, and apple and pumpkin picking in the fall. She now has children of her own and looks forward to raising them in the same town she enjoyed so much as a youth.
