The annual Musquash Field Day, featuring education, outdoors and fun, will be held this Saturday, February, 11, 2012. Now in its 20th year, the event is cosponsored by the Londonderry Conservation Commission and the University of New Hampshire’s Cooperative Extension.

Musquash Field Day

Musquash Field DayNormally, participants of the field day will be offered a chance to snowshoe or cross-country ski along the trails, but with the forecast not calling for much snow between now and then, hiking may be the only way in. Along the way, County Forester Fred Borman will teach winter tree identification to those interested in learning more about the nature surrounding them.

The hike will begin at the trail head on Hickory Hill Drive. It will take visitors on new trails and to cellar holes and introduce them to winter wildlife. Once participants finish the half-mile hike to the fire pit, they will be greeted by a warm open fire and free refreshments. There, they can enjoy hot dogs, marshmallows, hot chocolate and hot apple cider around the fire.

The group will meet at the trail head at 10 AM and leave promptly thereafter. The event is scheduled to end at 2 PM. So grab the family, bundle up, and join others for some great outdoor fun this weekend! For directions or more information, click here.
