Comedy Nights and New Bookings at Londonderry Music Hall

Feb 02, 2012 No Comments by

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to February! It’s amazing to me that we haven’t had to shovel snow this year much. Maybe this will be the month that we get buried with the white stuff. I’m not hoping that we do. Just sayin’.

We have a whole bunch of new bookings this week. I’m especially excited to announce the new show with JIM MESSINA. Jim has never played Tupelo before. It’s always fun getting an artist booked who hasn’t played the venue, especially someone like this artist!

We have another Open Mic night this Thursday. I know I’ve said this before, but the open mic night is absolutely the best entertainment value ever. For only $5, you can see over a dozen artists from all over the place play a couple of songs each. Some of these people are touring the country and have the night off. Some of them are local. There’s a reason why many of our open mic nights sell out! Try one out. You’ll like it!

We booked FIVE new shows this week!

March 8 JIM MESSINA
March 22 COMEDY NIGHT with Tony V and Dave Andrews
April 25 KEIKO MATSUI
May 4 THE RON NOYES BAND
May 6 CARAVAN OF THIEVES

As always, thanks for supporting Tupelo Music Hall!

February 3 TUPELO NIGHT OF COMEDY
Only 2 tickets remain for this Comedy night with Artie Januario and Mike Prior.

February 4 THE ADAM EZRA GROUP
The Adam Ezra group has been compared to the Dave Matthews Band, or to a hipper Dan Fogelberg. They’re known for a dynamic acoustic roots/rock sound combining smart well-written lyrics and powerful musicianship. In 2007, they were rated one of New England’s top five mountain bands by Ski Magazine. In the past years, they have shared the stage with the Goo Goo Dolls, Guster, John Mayer, Aerosmith, Dave Matthews Band, Carbon Leaf, The Wailers, Pete Seeger, State Radio (from Dispatch), The Pat McGee Band and more.

New Bookings
March 8 JIM MESSINA
Jim Messina was in three of the most iconic Americana folk rock bands of all time: Rock n Roll Hall of Famers Buffalo Springfield (performed in and produced last album featuring the Richie Furay classic “Kind Woman”); co-formed Poco with Rusty Young and Richie (produced first albums plus wrote signature song “You Better Think Twice”) and went on to produce produce and partner with Kenny Loggins (released nine albums amassing over 14 million record sales featuring hits Jim penned or co-wrote “Your Mama Don’t Dance,” “My Music” and “Thinking Of You”). Jim Messina also made several critically acclaimed solo albums so expect a musical cross section of his entire career.

March 22 COMEDY NIGHT with Tony V and Dave Andrews
Tony V. is a nationally known comedian who has appeared in numerous films and television shows. He is one of Boston’s best comedians who has performed on Comedy Central, Late Night With Conan O’Brien, A&E’s Evening at the Improv, MTV, Tough Crown with Colin Quin and more.
Dave Andrews is known for his hysterical one-liners and musical parodies. His easy-going style makes him a favorite with crowds from 21 to 91 as he has performed around the country including regular stops in Atlantic City and Las Vegas and he is a regular at Caesar’s Resorts. He has played countless colleges and universities.
Andrews will have you laughing at his stories, jokes, and songs, some of which you’ll be singing over and over and laughing each time. The last time he was at the Tupelo he drew a standing ovation and was brought back out for an extended encore.

April 25 KEIKO MATSUI
Keiko Matsui, born in Tokyo as Keiko Doi, is a Japanese smooth jazz/new age/Chill-out music keyboardist and composer whose career spans three decades, during which time she has released twenty CDs (in addition to various compilations) and has received international acclaim.

May 4 THE RON NOYES BAND
Ron Noyes has been called “One of the best American Songwriters—” (Radio Italy). With world-wide radio play, the Ron Noyes Band is described as emotive, unique, and timely. Their blend of roots rock, funk, singer-songwriter, and soul creates a sound that is touted in 12 countries. RNB fuses intricate melodies, meaningful lyrics, tight grooves, and intense instrumentation. Since 2002, The Ron Noyes Band has rapidly grown into one of the New England’s most highly acclaimed and talked about acts.

May 6 CARAVAN OF THIEVES
Stretching the parameters of acoustic swing, Caravan of Thieves has been winning immediate praise for their new and unique brand of gypsy flavored song writing and their high intensity show. The vocal harmonizing, acoustic guitar spanking husband and wife duo Fuzz and Carrie have now extended their family to include fiery violinist Ben Dean and double bass madman, Brian Anderson to complete their colorful vision.
Seeking inspiration from beyond the great divide, the quartet produces layers of Beatlesque vocals, driving rhythms, satirical, dramatic song writing and an overall circus of sound that can surely make for a party in your mouth.
