New Bookings and Great Shows this Week!

Apr 04, 2012 No Comments by

Hi Everyone,

Happy April! I love this month because Spring is here and the warm weather is surely to follow. I was raking my yard this weekend and loving every minute of it. As you can tell from my belly-aching all Winter about the cold, I’m a warm weather guy for sure.

It’s time to vote for the BEST OF NEW HAMPSHIRE awards again this year! In past years, we have held a free concert if we won the “Best Concert Venue” category, which we have won for seven years in a row. I’m offering the same deal this year, too. Please go to the NH Magazine website and vote for us. If we win, I will surprise you with a free show. We have had some great shows in the past to celebrate winning.

Come check out the NRBQ show this weekend. It should be a great one!

We have ONE New Booking to announce.

July 12 TAB BENOIT

As always, thanks for supporting Tupelo Music Hall!

This Week
April 5 TUPELO OPEN MIC NIGHT
This special open mic night features KATE KLIM. Our open mic nights are very special. Lots of performers and some really great talent. Kate plays a 30 minute set at 8:30 at this one. Still only $5. Such a bargain!

April 6 NRBQ
NRBQ is known for its live performances, containing a high degree of spontaneity and levity, and blending rock, pop, jazz, blues and Tin Pan Alley styles. 2004 saw the beginning of a several-year long hiatus interrupted only by a few reunion performances, while band members pursued other projects. In 2011, the band returned with members Terry Adams, Scott Ligon, Pete Donnelly, and Conrad Choucroun.
The abbreviation “NRBQ” stands for New Rhythm and Blues Quartet (originally Quintet). The band’s music, a rollicking blend of everything from stomping rockabilly to Beatles-influenced pop to Thelonious Monk-inspired jazz, has attracted fans as diverse as Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Elvis Costello, Keith Richards and Penn and Teller. NRBQ songs have inspired cover versions by Bonnie Raitt, Los Lobos, and Dave Edmunds, among many others.

April 7 JOHNNY WINTER
This show is SOLD OUT.

July 12 TAB BENOIT
Tab Benoit is a Cajun man who’s definitely got the blues. With all the makings of an American music icon, Tab has become one of the premiere roots stylist of the century. Tab has paid his dues as a road troubadour playing 250 nights a year performing at venues across North America, honing his guitar chops and becoming part of Louisiana folklore and legend. Even though Tab has been compared to some of the greatest bluesmen and guitarists of all time, he doesn’t aspire to be the “next” anybody. But there’s one thing he does know—he’ll always have a job.
