Seen here are pink tips and full bloomed blossoms together at Mack's Apples in Londonderry!

Thousands of acres of apple trees in Londonderry are hitting their pink tip phase, a time just before the blossoms open to full bloom and turn white. This phase is the last chance for the farmers to spray the trees before they become alive with the buzz of bees. It’s also a wonderful time to hit the orchards and enjoy the pink petals.

Whether you’re from out of town and just driving through or a full time resident running kids from sport to sport, the orchards during blossom time are a must see. Take a stroll down the rows of trees, breathe the fresh air, and enjoy the sights of the pink and white blossoms surrounding you. Pack a picnic lunch and make a day of it!

Londonderry is home to four active orchards lined with rows upon rows of apple trees. In central Londonderry sits Mack’s Apples and Sunnycrest Farm; on the west sits Elwood Orchards; and in the north sits Merrill Farm. Be sure to stop by and enjoy nature’s gifts.

The pink tips will turn white and open soon, so be sure to stop by the orchards! For more information on the apple orchards in town, visit our Agrativities page!
