Londonderry High School students recently filmed a public service announcement for the Londonderry-based Stonyfield yogurt company, who will be hosting their second annual Earth Day 5k and Fair on Saturday, April 21, 2012.

The race and fair will feature some new events, including kids’ races. These free races will range from a fifty yard trot for ages three and under to a half-mile course for ages eight to ten! The kids races will start at 11 AM.

The adult’s 5k will begin at 10 AM; following the race, participants and their families are invited to visit the Earth Day fair. The fair is free and open to all and will feature exhibitors like Earthtech, Seventh Generation, Organic Valley, Pete and Gerry’s and more.

A percentage of proceeds will be donated to the “Eco Sense” club at the Londonderry High School as well as a college-bound senior with plans to study the environmental or health fields in the form of a scholarship!

Though last year’s event experienced poor weather, many attended. And with more activities and an expanded fair, this year’s is expected to draw an even larger crowd! Learn more at the Stonyfield website.

The collaboration between Stonyfield and the Londonderry High School was made possible through public relations with the Londonderry Commerce and Visitors Center. Such collaborations are available for members of the center. Learn more about membership opportunities and benefits here!

About the author

Jacklynn has been a resident in Londonderry since the age of 5. She grew up in a quiet neighborhood and went through the great school system. She has fond memories of bike riding through town in the spring and summer, sledding in the winter, and apple and pumpkin picking in the fall. She now has children of her own and looks forward to raising them in the same town she enjoyed so much as a youth.
