The Londonderry Commerce and Visitors Center (CVC) hosts its first event this year on Sunday May 6, with “Visit Adams Pond Day”, Discover the Adams Pond Trail from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.  The event will start at the Mack’s Apples U-Pick 2 Pavilion, which is located on Adams Road between Cross Road and Fiddlers Ridge Road.

Adams Pond is a scenic destination in Londonderry, NH.

The event will feature a fun scavenger hunt, trail information, and nature markers along the trails, provided through a partnership with Londonderry Trailways. The Londonderry CVC will also be handing out special treats and toys to first arrivers, made possible by donations from the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, Granite Ridge Energy and Stonyfield.

“Adams Pond and the trails are such a little-known part of our town, but has so much beauty to it, we felt we needed to host an event that not only encourages families, couples, individuals, to spend some time outdoors, but also to say, ‘Hey, we’ve got these great trails, so come use them!'” added Kathy Wagner, Director of the CVC.

“Adams Pond itself is such a wonderful refuge and is just a quarter mile from the trailhead,” commented Bob Saur of Londonderry Trailways. “This trail is popular throughout the year with walkers, runners, cyclists, and cross country skiers. We’re planning walks of varying from one half mile to three and one half miles in length so there will be something of interest for all ages.”

During the event, the CVC will be raffling off a Mother’s Day basket. The basket will contain items such as a $50 gift card donated by Salon Bogar for beauty services, a bottle of Moonlight Mead, wine glasses, a gift card for Blackberry Bakery, and more to be announced. There is no cost for entering the raffle, however, entrants must be 21 years of age or older.

“We’re very excited for the first event this year,” said Jacklynn Woodruff, Office Manager for the Londonderry CVC. “We’ve got some great things planned and are looking forward to encouraging residents and locals to hit the trails and discover a part of Londonderry many don’t even know exist.”

Also on site will be members of ALERT, A Londonderry Emergency Response Team, members of the Town Master Plan to present Planapalooza, and DG Cycles.

Londonderry apple trees should be in full bloom during Visit Adams Pond Day.

The Adams Pond Trail will also be the site of the Autism 5K Apple Walk, which will begin and end at the Moose Hill School located on Pillsbury Road.  While the trail has room for all, we ask that visitors for the “Visit Adams Pond” event park at the Mack’s U-Pick 2 on Adams Road to prevent any parking issues.

With many things planned, and many things still in the pipeline, the CVC is looking for donations. If your organization is interested in donating or taking part in “Visit Adams Pond Day,” or interested in making a donation for the Mother’s Day gift basket, please contact Jacklynn Woodruff, Kathy Wagner, or Steve Young at the Londonderry Commerce and Visitors Center at (603) 432-4800.
