“Jaime’s Journey” is the name of our team walking for breast cancer this October 21st. Even though it’s named after our own journey, it is very much a great way to pay it forward to all of our daughters, sisters, friends, mothers, aunts…and every other beautiful women diagnosed with this terrible disease in the future.
My name is Jaime Ruggiero. I am 35 years old, have 3 beautiful children & a strong supportive husband. And breast cancer. My husband Chris & I are both from Londonderry, and our parents both still reside her. Recently diagnosed this past June, it has been a fast moving 3 months for our family. After a bi-lateral mastectomy in July & now halfway through chemotherapy, before starting radiation, we are ready to give back however possible. Genetic testing has proven I carry the gene that puts our daughter at a higher risk for breast cancer when she’s older. I am not alone. I have met so many women just like me. This research is going to make Ava’s path a little easier & hopefully less invasive then mine. Wishing it to go away is not enough. Early detection & providing research for the future is what we need. Women that walked this walk & donated to this foundation 10 years ago made my treatment plan what it is today. My path has been paved…I am asking you to play a little part in paving the path of our children’s future. Everybody has a story. Everybody as a struggle. This is our family’s journey.
