Musquash Field Day

With the ground covered with fresh snow in Londonderry, the annual Musquash Field Day, featuring education, outdoors and fun, will be held this Saturday, February, 16, 2013. Now in its 21st year, the event is cosponsored by the Londonderry Conservation Commission and the University of New Hampshire’s Cooperative Extension.

During the hike, families (and lone adults) can learn about winter botany, local wildlife and forestry from the local forester. At the end of the hike, refreshments will be offered around and open fire. Eastern Mountain Sports in Manchester will be providing snowshoes. The Field Day will happen snow, rain or shine, so be prepared!

Visitors are encouraged to come anytime between 10am and 2pm. Londonderry Trailways will be greeting visitors at the Hickory Hill Trailhead with maps and trail information. Free loaner snow shoes will be available for sign out, but the main trails are packed snow so hiking boots will work fine as long as you stay on the trails.

It only takes about 15 minutes to walk to the camp fire on the Landing Trail.  For directions or more information and trail head parking information click here.

Jacklynn has been a resident in Londonderry since the age of 5. She grew up in a quiet neighborhood and went through the great school system. She has fond memories of bike riding through town in the spring and summer, sledding in the winter, and apple and pumpkin picking in the fall. She now has children of her own and looks forward to raising them in the same town she enjoyed so much as a youth.
