Prism Concert Approaches

Tell someone about the Prism concert, coming this November 2nd and 3rd, and they might ask you to repeat yourself. “Prison?” they will say. Politely, you repeat “Prism.” And the light dawns. Word quickly gets around about the concert and before you know it, the shows are sold out and there is standing room only. The Prism concert is an event that allows the musical students of Londonderry High School and teachers Serge Beaulieu and Danielle Loschiavo the opportunity to shine; some students writing and performing their own work, others showcasing covers that will keep the audience begging for more.

Auditions have begun and will be held over several days as dozens of acts vie for the opportunity to perform. Generally there are more than 20 acts which make it to the final cut. The venue for this marvelous show is the LHS transformed cafeteria. Black drapes are hung from elaborate piping, round tables are brought in, tablecloths are added to soften the room and light and sound boards are hung and plugged in. The lights are dimmed and the spotlight shines first on one stage, then a second, then a third. Acts are timed to begin within seconds of each other allowing for near continues entertainment and the audience is never more than 30 feet from one or another stage.

Tickets go on sale on October 12th at 8am online through the lancermusic.org website. This year, interested parties will also be able to purchase a CD of the concert for a discounted price if it is purchased at the time of the ticket sales. While tickets are being sold on line, payment can be in the form of credit card or check/cash sent directly to the school. (Checks should be made payable to Friends of Music). As this is a very popular event, tickets that are not paid for by credit card will be held for 72 hours before being released if full payment isn’t received at the school. Tickets are $15 per person for the shows Saturday, November 2nd at 1pm and 7pm and Sunday, November 3rd at 1pm.
