From their new location in Londonderry, NH, Harrington Flowers offers beautiful floral arrangements for any occasion. From birthdays and holidays, to weddings and parties, their love for flowers and ability to incorporate unique ideas into their arrangements will satisfy a variety of tastes.

Owner Brad Harrington has always had a love for plants and flowers and grew up working in a garden. More than twenty years ago, at the age of 19, he started working for a Boston-based florist. He stayed for fifteen years, working his way up through the company. Eventually, he moved to New Hampshire and became the wedding coordinator for another florist.

After deciding to open his own florist company, he began by coordinating for weddings and events. During the first year of business, Harrington said he did about 50 weddings. As the company grew, he opened a shop in downtown Derry, NH and quickly realized the need for a retail storefront. Finally, he opened his doors to retail customers and two years later moved into his current location in Londonderry.

Of the new shop, Harrington said he needed more space, and this shop has it. The Derry location had about 800 square feet of space; the Londonderry location has almost 4,000 square feet. “I like the openness of it. It’s more inviting,” he said of the new space. “A lot of our business is weddings; I like to have a space like this that we can sit and go over the details of the event.”

As a large part of their business, Harrington Flowers worked on seventy-two weddings just this past year and have already booked twenty-one for 2014. Harrington explained that he only books two weddings per weekend and that he had to turn away weddings this year because he won’t take on more than he knows the shop can handle.

He added that he works closely with wedding venues like the Village Inn, Executive Court, and the Manchester Country Club, and would travel as far as Vermont, Maine, and Rhode Island to coordinate weddings. When working weddings, he will always send a designer out with the flowers to ensure that any on site adjustments can be handled.

Harrington Flowers has also been recognized for their work with weddings. They have won Best of Bride for two years and Harrington hopes to take the title again this year. The shop has also been featured in four magazines and Harrington has designed head pieces for a number of photoshoots; the most recent, Harrington said, was for an underwater lingerie ad in Vogue magazine.

Beyond weddings, Harrington Flowers will create arrangements for retail customers as well as events like funerals. Recently, they became preferred vendor for Peabody Funeral Homes. When designing arrangements for customers, Harrington likes to find out more about the receiving customer. He’ll ask about their favorite colors or flowers and incorporate those into the design. “I try to make it more personal because flowers are personal,” explained Harrington. He added that, when asked what he does for work, he says, “I’m in the business of making people feel special.”

Harrington also offers specials throughout the year. He will create gourmet gift baskets that include NH-made items like Michelle’s Totally Awesome Popcorn, Mack’s Apples products, and baked goods from Triolo’s in Bedford. He also offers weekly floral arrangements to both individual and corporate customers. For a small fee, customers can receive a fresh bouquet or loose assortment of flowers each week. Corporate clients include Salon Bogar and Planet Fitness in both Manchester and Derry.

A new endeavor, Harrington Flowers has begun hosting Wine and Design evenings. During the events, guests are invited to enjoy a glass of wine and some snacks and then learn how to create beautiful floral arrangements. Guests can then take home their arrangements at the end of the night. Harrington plans on hosting another Wine and Design evening during the holiday season.

Flowers can be ordered online through the Harrington Flowers website or by visiting or calling their location. Same day delivery is available if the requested flowers are available in the store. Harrington explained, however, that the arrangements pictured online are not going to look exactly like the delivered arrangement, unless it is ordered days in advance. The shop delivers to Londonderry, Derry, Auburn, Chester, Manchester, and Litchfield. During the holiday season, delivery will often be extended into Massachusetts.
