Denise and Steve Langley are awarded 2013 YOGM Volunteers of the Year

When you are involved with the Y, you help bring about lasting personal and social change. Whether you want to nurture the potential of children and teens, improve your or your family’s health and well-being, or give back and support your neighbors, your involvement with the Y will positively impact those in the community. It is because of Denise and Steve Langley’s commitment to community and belief in making a positive difference with their talents and resources to impact the causes they support that they are the 2013 co-recipients of the YMCA of Greater Manchester’s volunteer of the year award.

YMCA of Greater Manchester President/CEO, Hal Jordan (L), and Board of Trustees Chair, Don St. Germain(R) present Denise Langley (C) with the 2013 volunteer of the year award.

The Langleys and their business, Langley Construction, have provided countless hours of donated professional and personal support to help the Y. Their expertise has been provided willingly and regularly at no charge to offer solutions to many logistics challenges of various site and facility operations throughout all five branches of the YMCA of Greater Manchester.

Langley Construction has been vital to the implementation of various projects including the pool construction at the YMCA of Greater Londonderry and donation of heavy equipment, time, and materials for the successful installation of the new playground and pathways at the Allard Center in Goffstown.

Denise has been on the Allard Center’s advisory board for 8 years and is in her second term on the YMCA of Greater Manchester’s board of trustees(BOT). She also currently serves on the BOT Executive Committee, Strategic Planning Committee, Capital Campaign Committee, the Allard Center Community Relations Committee, Allard Center Site Planning Task Force.  Additionally, Denise annually volunteers countless hours for special events and activities including the Haunted Hike, Membership Picnic, Camp Clean- up and Open House, Healthy Kids Day, and the Brunch with Santa.

Steve serves on the BOT Building & Grounds Committee and was a playground committee site consultant. Together, the Langleys host a table at the Reach Out for Youth and Families Dinner and can be seen in attendance supporting a variety of YMCA of Greater Manchester events.

Denise and Steve Langley have taken an active role in bringing about meaningful, enduring change right in their own neighborhood. Their joint commitment has earned them recognition as YMCA of Greater Manchester’s co-volunteers of the year!

Other 2013 award recipients included Hannah Dufresne and Libby Sheppard for youths of the year, Doug Ewing, Gail Houle, Coleen Penacho, and Susan Riffert all received the chairman’s award, and community service awards went to Albany International and Hesson & Pare, CPAs.
