Library to Host Several Children’s Programs

The Children’s Room will be offering the following exciting programs during the month of January:

Into the Wild
Come to the library on Monday, January 13 from 4 to 5 PM for a journey Into the Wild with Wildlife Encounters. During this thrilling program, participants will have a chance to meet a variety of exciting animal friends. Animals may include a degu, striped skunk, Patagonian cavy, and umbrella cockatoo (live animals). Advance registration is required and begins on Monday, January 6 at 9 AM. To register, call 432-1127 or come by the Children’s Room.

Hooray for Hats
Come to the library on Monday, January 27 from 4 to 5 PM and celebrate all the different types of hats from around the world. Participants will play a hat matching game and wrap up the program trying their hand at the Mexican Hat Dance. Those who choose to may wear their favorite hat to the program. Each participant will leave with a hat to decorate at home. This exciting program is open to 90 participants and advance registration is required. To register, call 432-1127 or stop by the Children’s Room beginning at 9 AM on Tuesday, January 21.

Winter Programs

Reminder: Winter Session 1 Programs resume Wednesday, January 8 through Thursday, January 16.

The Children’s Room will be offering the following programs as part of Winter Session 2: Story Time, Toddler Time and Shake, Move & Read. Winter Session 2 will run February 5 through February 27. Advance registration is required and begins at 9 AM on Monday, January 27.

Reminder: If you were on the waiting list for Winter Session 1, you will automatically be entered in Winter Session 2. If you were in Winter Session 1, you must wait until Tuesday, January 28 to register. Please note: Parents may register a maximum of five (5) children per program at once.

Story Time
This program is open to children ages 4 to 6. Children attend without their parents and enjoy 45 minutes of thematic stories, games, songs and a craft. Meets on Wednesdays, 9:30 to 10:15 AM. Advance registration is required. Meeting dates are: 2/5, 2/12, 2/19 and 2/26.

Shake, Move & Read!!
This engaging program is open to participants of all ages. Shake, Move & Read allows families to explore books through movement and music. Each week, participants will energetically explore a different theme using songs, fantastic finger plays, a story and simple craft.

From the opening welcome song, to the final finger play, participants will be moving and grooving the afternoon away. This exhilarating and fun-filled program is held on Wednesdays from 4 to 4:45 PM. Advance registration is required. Meeting dates are: 2/5, 2/12, 2/19 and 2/26.

Toddler Time
This program is open to children ages 2 & 3. Children attend with their parents and enjoy a fun half-hour of thematic stories, games, songs and a simple craft. Meets on Thursdays, 9:30 – 10 AM. Advance registration is required. Meeting dates are: 2/6, 2/13, 2/20 and 2/27.

About the author

Jacklynn has been a resident in Londonderry since the age of 5. She grew up in a quiet neighborhood and went through the great school system. She has fond memories of bike riding through town in the spring and summer, sledding in the winter, and apple and pumpkin picking in the fall. She now has children of her own and looks forward to raising them in the same town she enjoyed so much as a youth.
