Adult Program On Thursday, April 17 at 7:00 p.m. the Leach Library will host Peter James, from the Abbot-Downing Historical Society. Mr. James will join us for a multimedia presentation on the Abbot & Downing Company and their most famous product: the Concord Coach. The Abbot-Downing Historical Society was formed in 1977 in order to educate the public about the significance of the Concord Coach. Originally known as the Concord Coach Society, the name was changed in 2011. In this presentation, Mr. James will discuss the history of the Abbot & Downing Company over it’s approximately one hundred years of active existence in Concord, New Hampshire. Included in the presentation will be photographs and descriptions of all of the remaining Concord Coaches located in New Hampshire. A question and answer session will follow the presentation.

This event is sponsored by the Londonderry Historical Society. The Londonderry Historical Society was formed in 1956 and incorporated in 1968 as a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of the Town’s past and has been collecting and storing artifacts and bits of history for many years. The Historical Society meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the library. You can find out more about the Londonderry Historical Society at their website. This event is free and open to the public, and will be held in the library’s lower-level meeting room. Seating is limited to the first 90 people. Light refreshments will be served.

Reference Desk News It’s April and the Consumer Reports car buying issue is on the newsstands and in your library. This issue has all the latest models, reviews, and safety ratings together with repair records and lists of best “used” cars. Leach Library keeps a copy on the reference shelves as well as a copy in our magazine collection. You can also access it through Ebscohost, our magazine database found on our Web Page. Another great source for purchasing new automobiles is The New Car Cost Guide. This is published approximately seven times a year with up-to-date pricing and specifications of new vehicles. Looking to purchase a used vehicle? The National Automobile Dealers Association (N.A.D.A.) has guides which are kept at the reference desk that contain current prices for recent and older used cars and trucks. Look at our recommended sites on the reference services page of our website to find other sources for prices and reviews of new and older cars. These include The Kelly Blue Book, Auto-by-tel, Automotive.com, Yahoo Car Buying Guides, Motor Trend, or Edmunds Automobile Buyers Guide.

For more information on any of these sources contact the reference librarians at 432-1132 or reference@londonderrynh.org.
