Leach Library Children’s Room Events for July!

The Children’s Room will be offering the following programs for the little ones during the month of July:

“Story Time – Zoo Day” Come to the library on Tuesday, July 1st from 10am to 10:30am to hear stories of lions and tigers and bears, oh my! Patrons of all ages are invited to an energetic half- hour program of exciting stories, frolicking finger plays and sensational songs. Each week, one lucky patron will win a special raffle prize. No registration is required for this drop-in program.

“Gone Fishing” Spend the morning on a fishing trip at the library on Wednesday, July 2nd from 11:00am to 12:00pm to create your own puzzle. During this program, patrons will be able to create a picture and then will cut it into a puzzle to take home. Each session is open to 70 participants. Registration is required and begins the Thursday prior to the program.

“Oceanology Books Bingo” Visit the library on Monday, July 7th from 11am to 12pm to play a fun picture version of the popular game. Every participant will win and be able to choose books from our special selection table. Registration is required and begins the Thursday prior to the program.

“Story Time -Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes” Come to the library on Tuesday, July 8th from 10:00 to 10:30am to hear stories all about you! Patrons of all ages are invited to an energetic half hour program of exciting stories, frolicking finger plays and sensational songs. Each week, one lucky patron will win a special raffle prize. No registration is required for this drop-in program.

“Element of Surprise – Animal Defenses” Join Mona Headen and Critters ‘N Creatures at the library on Wednesday, July 9th from 11:00am to 12pm to learn all about how animals stay safe in nature. Mona will discuss behaviors such as puffing up to look bigger and scarier, the use of bristles or quills as defense, and stinky glands. Some animals that may be present include: a bearded dragon, tenrec, polecat and a red/black striped milk snake (live animals). Registration is required and begins the Thursday prior to the program. This program is being sponsored by the Friends of the Londonderry Leach Library.

“Craft Time – Decorate your own bucket hate” Come to the library on Thursday, July 10 from 10:00-10:45 or 1:00-1:45pm to decorate your own bucket hat. Using fabric markers, patrons will have a chance to decorate a cool summer accessory. Each session is open to 70 participants. Registration is required and begins the Thursday prior to the program.

“Robotoics” Come to the library on Monday, July 14th from 11:00am to 12:00pm to enter the world of robots. From robots made to clean the house to robots in search of the perfect friend, these stories will warm your heart and wind your gears. Participants will have a chance to learn a fun song about a robot and even try their hand at robot dancing. Registration is required and beings the Thursday prior to the program.

“Whale Tales” Come to the library on Tuesday, July 15th from 10:00 to 10:30am to journey under the sea with whales. Patrons of all ages are invited to an energetic half-hour program of exciting stories, frolicking finger plays and sensational songs. Each week, one lucky patron will win a special raffle prize. No registration is required for this drop-in program.

“On Safari with Annie Concert” On Wednesday, July 16th, we will go On Safari with Annie and the Natural Wonder Band from 11:00am to 12:00pm. Annie and her partner Safari Bob host a fun-filled, interactive concert full of original songs about the rainforest. Get ready to dance along to the “Hippa Hippopotamus”, become a “Beautiful Frog”, act like a “Real Cool Cat” (lions, tigers and cheetahs, oh my!), learn the difference between an ape and a monkey and do the “Funky Elephant”. Registration is required and begins the Thursday prior to the program.

“Craft Time – Create your own stained glass volcano” Come to the library on Thursday, July 17th from 10 from 10:00-10:45 or 1:00-1:45pm to create your own stained glass volcano. Using tissue paper and other supplies, patrons will create a color window hanging. Each session is open to 70 participants. Registration is required and beings the Thursday prior to the program.

“Astronomy” Blast off into outer space and hear stories of astronauts, planets, stars and other heavenly bodies on Monday, July 21st from 11:00am to 12:00pm. During this program we will learn about 5 little rockets, discover the stories behind constellations and investigate what is hiding in our solar system. Registration is required and begins the Thursday prior to the program.

“Story Time – Noise Makers” Come to the library on Tuesday, July 22nd from 10:00 to 10:30am to make some noise with stories of all things loud. Patrons of all ages are invited to an energetic half hour program of exciting stories, frolicking finger plays and sensational songs. Each week, one lucky patron will win a special raffle prize. No registration is required for this drop-in program.

“Coded Messages” The Squam Lake Natural Science Center will be at the library on Wednesday, July 23rd from 11:00am to 12:00pm with their Coded Messages program. People communicate in many ways – a loud shout, a soft whimper, a wrinkled expression, laughter. Animals communicate in many ways, too. Join us to learn about how and why wild animals communicate. Live animals may include a beaver, woodchuck, a skunk or raptor (live animals). Registration is required and begins the Thursday prior to the program.

“Craft Time – Decorate your own growth chart” Come to the library on Thursday, July 24th from 10:00-10:45 or 1:00-1:45pm to decorate your own growth chart. During this craft, participants will be able to decorate a chart to help keep track of how quickly they are growing! Each session is open to 70 participants. Registration is required and begins the Thursday prior to the program.

“Paleotology” Travel back in time to the world on dinosaurs on Monday, July 28th from 11:00am to 12:00pm. During our travels patrons will learn about Edwina, the dinosaur matching game. Registration is required and begins the Thursday prior to the program.

“Story Time – Dog Days” Come to the library on Tuesday, July 29th from 10:00-10:30am pass the morning with some cute canine friends. Patrons of all ages are invited to an energetic half-hour program of exciting stories, frolicking finger plays and sensational songs. Each week, one lucky patron will win a special raffle prize. No registration is required for this drop-in program.

“Motion Man” Enter the amazing world of the Motion Man Jody Scalise on Wednesday, July 30th from 11:00am to 12:00pm. This show has a little bit of everything. From physical comedy, to circus skits, miming, audience participation and all around fun, the Motion Man will keep audiences of all ages giggling the afternoon away. Registration is required and begins the Thursday prior of the program.

“Craft Time – Create your own rocket wind sock” Come to the library on Thursday, July 31st from 10:00-10:45 or 1:00-1:45pm to create your own rocket wind sock. During this craft, participants will be able to decorate a rocket ship and attach it to a wind sock and add streamers! Each session is open to 70 participants. Registration is required and begins the Thursday prior to the program.
