Warm summer days and summer vacations are upon us. Keep the family, or yourselves, entertained with this list of “must-dos” in Londonderry.

  1. Visit Mack’s Apples for Local Made Ice Cream Mack’s ice cream stand, located at 230 Mammoth Road, is open daily from 12 to 9 PM. The stand boasts locally made Richardson’s Ice Cream from Middleton, Massachusetts. Learn more here.
  2. Bring the Family to Concerts on the Common Wednesday Nights Concerts on the Common is a FREE event held in the center of Londonderry every Wednesday night during the summer. Bring a blanket, lawn chairs, and the family for live music, a rare commodity in this day’s age. Acts include a Beach Boy cover band, jazz and acoustic musicians, and more!   3. Come Out to Play for Five Days of Fun The third weekend in August is something special in Londonderry. Since 1899, the town has faithfully held its Old Home Day celebration, which spans five days and includes a Senior Night, Kidz Night, fireworks, live music, a road race, hot air balloon rides, a baby contest and of course food!   4. Pack a Picnic for the Common and Visit the Playgrounds Pack a picnic lunch with the kids and take it to the Town Common, located on the corner of Mammoth and Pillsbury Roads. The Common is open to the public and a great place to let the kids run free. Then, take a short walk through the orchards to the Londonderry Athletic Field Association Complex, where tennis courts, playgrounds, basketball courts, a skate park and baseball fields are open to the public when not in use by the local schools or organizations!   5. Pick Fresh Berries and Flowers at Sunnycrest Farm Located on High Range Road, Sunnycrest starts off right in June with fresh strawberries, blueberries and more.   6. Hike the Musquash Trails Established in 1979, the Musquash Conservation Area has nearly 10 miles of trails on over 900 acres. Maintained by Londonderry Trailways, trails are open to walkers, joggers and bikers, but closed to all motorized vehicles. Get trail maps and the secrets to the best parking here.
  7. Go Fishing at Kendall Pond This Southern Londonderry pond is a great place for beginner and young fishers. Swimming with small fish, the pond’s little beach area offers a great place for young and old to practice casting, and the fish won’t swim off with children in tow. Parking is located near the intersection of South Road and Kendall Pond Road.
  8. Pick a Path and Bike on With three routes in varying length and difficulty, there is guaranteed fun for those from the seasoned biker to the family looking for a quick outing.
