Charles George Companies, Inc. is a Londonderry based corporation that has provided solid waste disposal to the New England region for more than 50 years. Independently owned and operated, the company began as the Charles George Trucking Company, but has since evolved into a full-service waste management company.
The company owns a fleet of trucks and equipment, including roll-off containers, front load containers, and compaction equipment for waste management. Charles George offers customers a state of the art transfer station and recycling facility, located in Fitchburg, MA. The facility is open to all contractors, solid waste disposal companies, businesses and the general public.
Other services provided by Charles George include construction and demolition disposal, stationary and self-contained compactors that can be customized to the customers’ needs, and LEED Recycling. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) encourages global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices through the creation of universally understood and accepted tools and criteria. Charles George works with LEED to provide its customers the necessary tools for a successful disposal and recycling LEED program.
Along with having a reputation for being a service-oriented company, Charles George prides itself with exceptional personal attention and service to its customers. Services include 24 hour/7 days per week assistance, radio dispatched personnel, and fast, friendly and reliable service.
Charles George is committed to local communities and has made donations to both the Londonderry Police and Londonderry Fire departments. When Londonderry’s South Fire Station was completed, Charles George donated entertainment equipment to the station. In early 2010, the company donated six safety jackets to the police department Traffic Accident Reconstruction (TAR) team. The jackets were approved by federal standards to be worn in a work environment on the roadways and were valued at a total of $1,140.
Michael Karras, of Charles George, said at the presentation, when donating the jackets, “Our company is all about safety on the road. This year we wanted to do something that was safety oriented for the Londonderry Police Department. We take great pride in their company and the safety of our employees and general public that we share the roads with everyday.” Prior to this donation, the company also donated a “bite suit” for training K-9 units.
