Derry Homegrown Farm and Artisan Market

Londonderry is fortunate to have some great farm stands in town, but it’s also fun to shop at a farmer’s market. The Derry Homegrown Farm and Artisan Market opens in June and runs through September. It’s in downtown Derry, next to Pocket Park on Broadway (between Martin and Manning Street) and is open on Wednesdays from 3 PM to 7 PM.

A farmer’s market provides a great opportunity to enjoy locally grown, baked, and prepared foods and handmade items. You’ll find food items such as fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices, maple syrup, honey, jams, pickles, cheeses, mustard, breads, pastries, eggs, and meats. Flowers, skin care products, soaps and pottery, paintings and other handmade products are available. Local wines, beers, and meads are also available for tastings and purchase.

Derry Homegrown strives to make every Wednesday afternoon a community celebration. In addition to providing the best locally grown and produced products available in the state, folks come for the live music, arts, demonstrations, and children’s activities. Check their calendar to find out what’s going on each week.

The vendors list varies and includes farms, bakers, and artisans. Some of the regular vendors at the market are Abbot Hill Creamery, Anderson’s Mini Maples, Appolo Vineyards, Blackwater Mustards, Celeste Oliva, Country Dreams Farm, Dowie Farms, Farmer Palmer Garlic, Horne Family Farms, KRM Chocolates, New England Fishmongers, Nomad Bakery, Slippery Soap, Tewksbury Honey, and Valencenti Pasta. This isn’t a complete list of vendors.

Derry Homegrown is a 501c3 federally recognized non-profit and is run by a dedicated fully-volunteer Board of Directors. Neil Wetherbee is the Market Manager and he works with every vendor to personally ensure they are welcome and as successful as they can be. Vendors interested in participating can contact Neil at 603-548-3935 or info(at)derryhomegrown.org.

If you go, wander through the market to see what is there before you decide what to buy. Talk to the vendors and get to know them. Take advantage of the opportunity to meet the vendors. They are people who are passionate about what they do and bring to the market.
