Londonderry Christian Church

The Londonderry Christian Church has been a part of the community since it began in 1977. Throughout the years, the church has seen different Pastors come and go, but has continued to be an integral part of the community through its many outreaches.

Current Pastor Dave Harrison has been at the Londonderry Christian Church since July 2009. Harrison grew up in Illinois and, after being offered the minister position at the church, he and his wife relocated to Londonderry.

Harrison explained that the church currently has a congregation of over 100 members and is continuing to grow. “We are a church that is welcoming and open to anyone that wants to explore and be a part of God’s word,” he said. Members come from all surrounding areas, he added.

Sunday services are held at 8:30 AM and 10:45 AM with adult education at 9:30 AM. During the early service, a nursery is offered for children. During the later service, a program called Real Kids is offered for children grades Kindergarten through 5th. Through this program, children participate in the opening portion of the service then are taken into classrooms where they read bible stories, do arts and crafts, and play games. A youth group for older children is also offered at 6 PM on Sundays.

Throughout the week, Londonderry Christian Church is busy hosting Girl Scout troop meetings and working with the local community. The church has also partnered with the Londonderry Clergy Association to work with all the churches in Londonderry to provide services to the community.

Harrison added that the church has recently begun to work with a group called Family Promise. Through this program, homeless families will be housed at the church four times per year and will receive meals, training, and more to help get back on their feet. Family Promise is an interfaith hospitatlity service that works with over thirteen churches and groups all over Rockingham County.

Londonderry Christian Church has also become known for the community events they host on site. These include the annual Trunk or Treat each Halloween, a summer Bible Study open to all youth that are interested, and possibly a Spring Carnival this upcoming Easter holiday.
